Genesis Summer Reading Academy

General operating support was provided to Genesis Summer Reading Academy through Miller Foundation's Education grant program.

The seven-week Genesis Summer Reading Academy program provides reading instruction and academic support to Eugene-Springfield children who meet McKinney-Vento and Title 1 classifications. There is no cost to attend Genesis.

Each Genesis classroom is staffed by a licensed teacher, a current college student pursuing a degree in education or related field, and two Marist Catholic High School student volunteers, ensuring that each Genesis student feels known and valued throughout the summer.

In addition to reading interventions and small adult to student ratios in the classroom, the Pre-K through Fourth grade students in attendance are also provided with breakfast, lunch and snacks. The summer 2022 program served over 4,419 meals to Genesis children.
