All education organizations should use our letter of inquiry (LOI) process regardless of the size of your organizational budget or funding request. This process is also for all arts education requests.


The Miller Foundation recently articulated the Guiding Principles that will shape our education grantmaking in the longer term. In the near term, in recognition of the impacts of the pandemic on our education system and communities, our current education funding will support efforts that address immediate and pressing needs for K-12 students, teachers and their families during this challenging time.


While we are more likely to support activities that align with our Guiding Principles, we aim to be responsive to the education sector's evolving needs during this crisis. Therefore, if your organization is otherwise eligible for Foundation funding and you believe your work warrants our support, please submit a Letter of Inquiry.

The Miller Foundation currently makes exceptions to fund several statewide institutions whose scope of activities extend beyond our current arts and education priorities, but which provide important support to these sectors. We appreciate that Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, the High Desert Museum, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium provide for students and teachers a ‘classroom like no other’ through on-site experiences, online resources, and teacher professional development, all of which connect to core academic subjects in our state’s schools. Oregon Public Broadcasting provides critical coverage of the arts and education in Oregon, keeping both those sectors and the general public informed and engaged.
